F.A.Q.
What colors are available?
There are two basic colors of bamboo flooring. The blond or natural color and the carbonized or coffee color.
Do the two colors available have variations in their colors?
Yes, there is a wide range of variation in both the natural and the coffee colors.
We, however sort the colors down to a very consistent color and package the material with a lot number for identification. We use only the medium range on a numbering scale of 1 to 10. Our 3-4 color is considered light and the 5-6 color considered dark.
What is different about the carbonized or coffee color?
The carbonized color is derived from the process of carbonizing (cooking) of the natural color sticks. That process impregnates the darker color throughout. There are no stains, dyes or other synthetics used in this process.
What type of finish is used?
We use a UV coating with an aluminum oxide base coating. Our super matte or commercial coating has aluminum oxide in all coats. This is a six coat factory process.
What sizes are available?
We carry two standard sizes flooring planks 36”x3 5/8” x 5/8” and 72” x 6” x 5/8”.
Custom orders for different sizes and colors are possible.
What type accessories are available?
We stock stair nosing, reducers, t-moldings, end caps or square edge and base shoe or quarter round. Also available by special order are treads and risers and base moldings.
What method of installation is required?
Bamboard may be installed using the traditional nail down method, floating or direct glue down. However, we do not recommend floating our 36” x 3 5/8” x 5/8” product as it is coated on all sides and flooring adhesive will not adhere to the urethane coating. The larger 72” x 6” x 5/8” are left uncoated on the edges in order to install using the floating floor method. For the direct glue down method we recommend using a product such as Bostick’s Best.
What about care and cleaning?
Bamboard may be cared for using hardwood flooring cleaners compatible with the urethane coating sold at supermarkets and retail stores. Mild detergent and water will clean most floors. Damp mop. Water should not be allowed to stand on the product as it will penetrate the product through nail and end cut locations.
